It’s been 6 1/2 years since I moved to Boston.  I completed 4 years of college, lived in 7 different apartments, worked at 3 different positions at work, went to Jose Mcyntires 25 times and met a hell of a lot of awesome people. Now, I embark on another adventure hitting the road, heading to Los Angeles, California.  While I called Boston my home for around 7 years, I always knew that I wanted to explore the west coast at some point in my life.  Now it’s happening and I, am, so excited.  Bittersweet though cause I’m leaving behind an amazing group of friends, an incredible family, and a city that has everything you would ever want. But I’ll be back, don’t you worry!

So I’m hitting the road with Sigal, my copilot, in my little Toyota Yaris. My life is packed in the back of this car which most people are surprised even has an engine.  Me and Sigal have been talking about road tripping since sophomore year of college and as my friends always say, ya gotta live like it’s sophomore year.

So after an incredible night at the JDRF Fundraiser (open bar, enough said) and a drop in at Lansdowne Pub (what a way to go), we hit the road this morning, locked and loaded, hungover and exited, with Hold On by Wilson Phillips blasting on the radio.  Our first stop was my hometown Barrington,RI where there were tons of celebrations including a huge party for my grandfather’s 80th birthday on top of my going away/birthday, cousin’s birthday, my mom’s birthday, and mother’s day.  

Two things I’ve learned since the beginning of our road trip:

1. Always remember your toiletries. If not, it results in an anti-climatic 15 min drive and turn around in Quincy heading back to the brick jungle where dreams are made of (aka Charlestown).
2. You need to make sure you have a state inspection on your car before going on a cross country road trip (or just in general).  Contemplate that, then text me with the hashtag “dumbass”.

All together our trip to rhody was awesome.  We had reunions with both sides of my families including matching shirts and shorts, 6 cakes, and an hour long video tribute to my grandfather that if you didn’t cry during that, you have no soul.  

So my next stop iss…….wait for it…..

a body shop to get my state inspection.

Then WASHINGTON D.C.!!!
